Herpes is one of the greatest skin diseases man is suffering from. Herpes is an infectious disease as well as a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) which has got too common today. Similarly the cases of Herpes Whit-low are also on the hike. Herpes is a disease which results in contagious skin infections in the form of irritating, painful and dangerous lesions. These lesions are in the form of small blisters in groups over various body parts. Herpes is a very common disease today. According to a health study, more than 50 million people all around the world are suffering from Herpes today. Talking about the USA, 20% of the total males and over one fourth of the American females are suffering from Herpes in today’s scenario. Herpes Whit-low is also getting common day by day. Herpes is actually caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) which is of two types, namely HSV-1 and HSV-2. Herpes is also categorized into two types, based on the affected body part. Herpes is Oral Herpes when the infections are in the form of cold sores or fever blisters over face, in mouthy, on or around the neck, on cheeks, chin, elbows, or sometimes in the eyes; while it is Genital Herpes when the infected body parts include the genitals, sex organs, buttocks or the outer opening of the anus. Generally Oral Herpes is caused by the HSV-1 while Genital Herpes by HSV-2. Talking about Herpes Whit-low, it is a type of Herpes which affects the hands, generally the fingers of the individual.  Herpes Whit-low can be caused by both HSV-1 and HSV-2. Herpes Whit-low caused by the HSV-1 is often contracted by such health care workers who come in contact with the HSV-1. Along with that it is also observed commonly in the thumb-sucking children along with the adults of ages 20-30 years who usually acquire it through contact with the infected genitals. The basic symptoms of the Herpes Whit-low include the swelling, reddening and tenderness of the skin on the infected finger. Other symptoms of Herpes Whit-low include fever, swelling in the lymph nodes, small and clear vesicles which usually merge and become cloudy. These lesions usually take two to three weeks to heal. The causes of Herpes Whit-low include HSV-1 in the majority of the cases, while HSV-2 is the cause of a few cases. Herpes Whit-low is very dangerous as it is chronic and incurable. There are many types of antivirals available for the treatment of the Herpes Whit-low, which can control and regulate the situation but the fact is that they are not able to cure it.
